Waterhouse Music Lessons was founded by Chris Paradis in the summer of 2010. Since then, Chris has taught students of all ages (5 to 86), backgrounds and musical interests on acoustic and electric guitar (flatpicked and fingerstyle), banjo (clawhammer and 3-finger styles), mandolin, bass guitar, ukulele and drums. His teaching days began in the Boston, MA area before relocating to Sandpoint, ID in 2015. He offers lessons in-person and over the computer. He has also been a teacher with Music Bridges Borders, a volunteer-led summer youth camp since 2023. Free for campers, it offers a cross-cultural musical experience on a wide variety of instruments.
Chris began his own musical journey at age 11, when a cousin gifted him his first guitar. In his high school years, he began to branch out learning the banjo, mandolin, bass, ukulele and drums. He has played each instrument in various bands throughout the years, recorded albums and performed at venues in the New England area and in the Inland Northwest.
His eclectic musical interests have led him to perform and teach styles as varied as blues, jazz, folk, rock, funk, bluegrass, ragtime, classical, Brazilian and other folk traditions from around the world. Whatever your musical interests are, chances are, Chris will be able to connect and relate.
